Cross-Belt Sampler
Automatic sampling from the conveyor belt
If sampling systems cannot be installed in the discharge zone of a belt conveyor for space reasons, but representative cross-section samples are required, the installation of an cross-belt sampler is recommended.
The cross-belt sampler is installed above the belt conveyor and consists mainly of a rotating sample scoop that moves across the belt perpendicular to the direction of flow. To take the sample, the sampler completes one 360-degree rotation each time. The radius or lever arm length of the sampler is adapted to the width and trough of the belt conveyor to be sampled. The sample chamber traverses the material flow at a constant speed in order to take a cross-sectional sample. The sample is then fed into a hopper displaced to the side of the belt conveyor. Depending on the customer's requirements, the hopper is connected to a downpipe and a sample collection vessel or further process stages for sample preparation.
Advantages
- Automatic and representative sampling
