Rotary arm sampler

Automatic sampler for falling bulk material

The rotary arm sampler is an alternative, if the situation on site does not permit the installation of a linear sampler. The rotary arm sampler takes the primary sample at the transfer point by cutting through the free-falling material.

The rotary sample scoop, mounted on the rotating arm, is held in position by a simultaneous chain so that the filler opening of the scoop always faces upwards. When the sample scoop is in its start position, the bottom flap is open. To take a primary sample, the rotary arm is moved from its start position to the lower end position, during which time the sample scoop cuts through the free-falling material.

As soon as the sample scoop has reached the lower end position, the bottom flap is closed by a fixed stop. Now the rotary arm moves in the opposite direction and crosses the falling stream a second time. When moving to the start position, the bottom flap is opened by a spring-loaded stop and the collected sample is discharged from the sample scoop.

Advantages

  • Automatic and representative sampling
  • Robust and durable construction
  • Low maintenance
  • Low wear due to placement of the waiting position outside the flow of conveyed material
  • Can be used in ATEX zone
  • Can be flexibly adapted to on site conditions
  • Complete integration of the sampler in the belt transfer
  • Variable travel speeds through the use of VFDs

Fields of application / industries

  • use in the food sector possible (FDA Comliant)
  • sampling of coal
  • sampling of rocks an minerals
  • sampling of grain
