Swivel pan sampler

The alternative to the screw sampler

If the screw sampler cannot be used due to the product characteristics of the bulk material to be sampled, the use of a swivel pan sampler is recommended.

The swivel pan sampler was developed for taking representative cross-sectional samples from pipelines in which dry, flowable and fine-grained materials are conveyed from top to bottom.

The sampler is installed in a funnel-shaped housing, which is integrated into the existing downpipe. The swivel pan, which is open upwards, is swung by the free falling material flow of the pipeline and thus takes a cross-sectional sample.

In its basic position, the swivel pan is located above the sample outlet funnel, i. e. protected outside the material flow. The open side of the pan is pointing downwards. At the start of sampling, the pan is swung through the material flow with the opening pointing downwards. After reaching the final position, the sampling pan is brought to the filling position by means of the discharge drive. The opening of the pan now points upwards.

After a preset time has elapsed, the swivel drive operates in the opposite direction. The pan, which is open upwards, is swung through the free falling material flow of the pipeline and a cross-sectional sample is taken. Subsequently, the pan undergoes a 180° rotation, the material in the pan is emptied into the laterally arranged sample outlet funnel and the emptying operation is switched off. The sample is fed into a sample collection container via the sample outlet funnel. The sampler is thus ready to take the next incremental sample.

Advantages

  • Automatic, representative sampling
  • Solid and durable constructions
  • Low maintenance
  • Low wear due to placement of the waiting position outside the flow of conveyed goods
  • Use in ATEX zone possible
  • Drives can be flexibly adapted to local conditions
  • Complete integration of the sampler into the pipeline
  • Insensitive to contaminants in the flow of conveyed goods
  • Variable driving speeds due to the use of frequency converters

Fields of application / industries

  • Suitable for use in the food sector (FDA-compliant)
  • Sampling of e. g. cereals
  • Sampling of recycled materials
  • Sampling of metal powders
  • Sampling in the chemical industry
